Well now, it does seem that the unpleasantness with the Ministry never blossomed into fruition. It really is quite appalling that our government can burst into private homes for a quick search, but I suppose these are the times we live in and good people must make sacrifices in order to keep living civilized lives.

Speaking of, my dear Lucius has been called away again. It was so good of him to stay as long as he could, but I feel myself growing more and more despondent and bored by the moment. In fact, I have been just a bit off as of late. I think it’s the anemia I had as a girl, though. A bit of rest will be good for me and I must admit, having such a lovely house to be cloistered in is not such a bad thing.

I am happy for the recent quiet, given the alternatives.

It seems I’ll be throwing a party soon enough, a charity event for - oh, some such cause. A museum, I believe. Lucius says it’s good to get involved and I must agree. It does present a fantastic opportunity. The parlor’s been finished for nearly a week now and no one has been around to see it.

I guess that will change soon enough. That old dolt Dimbleby said he will be sending over a girl to help with the arrangements – an Amanda or Emily or some dreadfully common name such as that. Then again, I’ve heard rumor that Dimbleby doesn’t even remember his own name, so we shall see.

I do hope she shows up on time though. If there is to be a party, there is much to be done.

It’s been terribly quiet around the mansion lately. I do wish the elf wouldn’t sneak around so – do you know, I don’t think it trusts me. Just the other day I found it rifling through my jewelry. The elves at home never went through my things without permission – I think I will have to owl Mummy and have her send me one of our old ones.

Then there’s that dreadful portrait in the third floor hallway that has taken up whistling every time I pass by. I’ll have to remember to talk to Lucius when he gets back – Darling, if you’re reading this, can we please move your great-great-uncle-once-removed to one of the cellars? I think he would most appreciate the sight of all the fine wine, given that he has taken to comparing my lips to the color of an aged merlot and well, other less appropriate similes.

Also, Lucius, dear, do try to hurry back. I know how important your work can be, but Wiltshire is restless without you and I do know how you like your space in London. I’ve bought some enticing new clothes and I’m sure you’ll be quite pleased with my purchases. However, they’re not quite fit for public view so you simply must come back so I may show off.

Do you know, I don't think Lucius's elf likes me very much. I have just had several custom-made hair ornaments sent to me from my favorite designer (utterly gorgeous, you should see the way they sparkle!), and the little wretch intentionally dropped them all over the parlor floor! I know it was intentional, as he had asked me earlier in the day whether the ornaments counted as clothes. Undoubtedly he meant to have me order him to pick them up and thus free himself. Honestly. I made the awful beggar stand neck-deep in the fountain for that conniving display. Once he thaws out, I hope he treats me with much more respect.

I have been so lax about this thing - to be expected, of course. These last few weeks have been the busiest of my life! First there was my birthday. An absolutely perfect affair, I assure you, all the right people were there. It wasn't too big, of course, only a couple hundred guests. I couldn't possibly have my birthday overshadowing my wedding! I have a birthday every year, after all, and only one wedding day.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves, shall we? Then there was Christmas. Oh, everything was just lovely. The estate was utterly bedecked in holly wreaths and fairy lights. My gifts were all completely perfect - I do hope everyone felt the same about whatever I gave them. Honestly, sometimes I have such trouble picking things out for people. I can think of the most wonderful presents until Christmastime rolls around, and then all of my ideas abandon me.

And then, of course, the main event. A dream, wasn't it? You know it was, those of you who were there. And, I suppose, those of you who weren't. A whole wedding issue of Witch Weekly for the occasion! I was rather flattered by that, and they did get some brilliant photographs of me in my gown. I'm particularly fond of the ones of the bridal waltz - I've already owled Witch Weekly for my own copies.

I can only hope that married life proves as wonderful. I am quite optimistic on that end.

There isn't enough time in the world lately, it seems. Every time I look at a calendar I'm surprised at how much time has passed! To think, I'll be married in less than a month. Everything is simultaneously falling into and out of place. I suppose it's merely the thought of my life changing so entirely... I'm still excited, of course - what girl isn't excited about her wedding? But I'm afraid there are certainly some new things to think about.

I can hardly believe it's November already! The wedding is getting nearer and nearer, and while I'm terribly excited about it (naturally), it's also rather worrying. There's still so much to do! Mother and I have been whipping the house elves into an absolute frenzy of sachet-stuffing and I don't think Diagon Alley will ever be the same after our last visit. Which is silly, of course, considering how much of the decor has been custom-ordered. You'd think Madam Malkin was going to get the vapors when we told her about the uniforms for the catering staff - at least she doesn't have to handpaint the china! I hardly think it's too much to ask for the caterers to look decent.

A bride's work is never done, it seems.

It's been a rather dire few weeks, hasn't it? I've been absolutely out of sorts. I couldn't even muster up enough energy to visit the clothier's for wedding dress measurements yesterday. Mummy was quite concerned about my health. I do feel a bit... well, detached lately. Nothing interests me, not even wedding plans.
